Whenever I tell people that I am a blogger, a social media manager and a work at home mom, I almost always get asked how I earn from my blogs.

I always try to explain that while there are so many mom bloggers out there, not all of them earn from their blogs. Not all bloggers are into blogging to earn money.

There are those who think of their blogs as online journals – as portals for sharing their ideas and experiences.It really depends upon one’s goals.

But there are mom bloggers who want to earn from their blogs, but just don’t know how.

In my video I got into some more detail on how you can do just that.

If you want to monetize your blog, you’ve come to the right place because I will teach you the various ways to make a living out of blogging.

The methods I am going to mention in the video above and summarized below are all effective.  But you have to manage your expectations because you are not going to get rich overnight.

All the methods I am going to share require hard work and great content to increase traffic to your blog and grow your base of loyal readers.

If you are determined to make money out of blogging, here are 5 effective ways to monetize your blog.

1. Earn from ads.

There are ways you can earn from ads.

Think of your blog as your own property, your valuable piece of online real estate.

To earn from ads, you can sign up with Google Adsense and place ad codes in strategic locations on your blog. To be able to do this, you need to research on the right ad placement techniques.

Furthermore, you must remember that when it comes to Google Adsense, content and traffic are very important.  The ads that will be displayed on your blog depend on your content.

You need to develop interesting content for two reasons: you want to increase the traffic to your blog and you want the ads to appeal to your readers increasing the click rate.

And finding the right niche is equally important as well because in PPC advertising (pay-per-click advertising), some niches just pay more over others.

Aside from Google Adsense, you can also sell ad spots on your blog. Advertisers may contact you saying they want to place a banner ad just below your blog’s header, on the sidebar, or even the footer.

What’s great about ad spots is that you have complete control of the rates and for how long the ads will run on your blog. Another option is to sell links ads, but they pay less than banner ads.

 

2. Write featured or sponsored posts.

One of my favorite money-making strategies is the featured or sponsored post. If your blog generates enough traffic, brands and companies may approach you with an offer. (can you take a guess from my blog which brands have approached me?) 

The rate and requirement varies per project.

Some companies may ask you to insert an anchor text that links to a particular website in one of your existing blog posts, ask you to write about their product or company, or simply require you to publish a blog using an article written by them.

 

 

3. Rake in affiliate commissions through product reviews.

Affiliate commissions is another of my favorites.

There are ways to earn from affiliate commissions from your blogs. You can write in-depth reviews and recommendations and insert links to a product page in a marketplace or website like Amazon.

If one of your readers click on the links and make an actual purchase, you will earn commissions from the sale.

Worth mentioning is that when doing product recommendations, you have to remember that your readers value your opinion so only review or recommend products you actually believe in. Side note: Make your reviews as honest and as balanced as possible. Never sacrifice your credibility as a blogger in favor of earning a few extra dollars. In blogging, your credibility is your currency.

So if you want to keep your readers and subscribers, choose the affiliate products you will be promoting on your site.

4.  Sell your own products and content.


Aside from being your own piece of real estate, you can also liken your blog to your very own store where you can sell your own products.

You can develop your own virtual products such as e-books, videos, audio books, online courses, and other training materials. (Actually Elite Marketing Pro has even showed me how to do this.)

Or you can even sell physical products such as books, shirts, and other collectibles and just have it shipped whenever someone makes a purchase through your blog.

 

5. Generate income from membership content.

 

If you are successful with selling virtual products on your blog and attracting enough traffic to your site, it is time consider generating top dollar income from membership content.

Membership content works for bloggers who already have a high volume of content on their blogs and are able to produce more on a regular basis.

Supposing a blogger has written hundreds of articles on Blogging 101, SEO, and affiliate marketing, he or she can easily curate and organize the content into membership units.

To attract paying subscribers, the blogger can offer free access to Blogging 101 articles but if a reader wants to read up on SEO and affiliate marketing, a monthly subscription fee will be charged automatically to the reader’s credit or debit card in order to gain access to all the resources available on the website.

If you have really good content, your subscribers will be hooked. Imagine earning a fixed monthly amount from each of your subscribers.

As long as you’re passionate about blogging, you can definitely monetize your blog. Success won’t happen overnight but with due diligence, you will get there.

Once you get the hang of it, there will be no stopping you. So start researching and experimenting today. You have a wealth of resources at your fingertips.
