Why is a Facebook Fan Page Important?
I got this question from a person who’s been marketing their business online using their personal Facebook Profile.
As far as they’re concerned their business is doing fine.
They have been “marketing” their business using Facebook!
So I’m cool right?
I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but as we’ve said before using Facebook for Business is being driven to the Fan Page.
Yes Facebook is a great place to “market” your business.
Why “market” in quotes.
Well put simply most people think marketing is advertising.
If an engineer like myself can figure out that they are different I can’t understand why other business people don’t get that too.
So is business ok for my friend who’s spamming her Facebook personal profile with business posts.
It’s not good on Facebook.
I don’t care what business you’re in or what organization you belong to,
Facebook will eventually figure out that you’re “marketing” from your personal profile and shut you down.
They’re not going to take your account away, no! They won’t do that!
What they will do with that lovely algorithm of theirs and the artificial intelligence that they are using now will …
make your posts disappear into oblivion on the internet!
Why is this important to you?
You can Reach more people from a Page than a Profile
If you’re going to spend your time trying to reach the 1.4 Billion users on Facebook every month and the 900 Million on their mobile phones…..
…. then you need to use the strategy recommended by Facebook themselves!
Now you’re probably wondering why am I suggesting this?
It’s because if you want to get the most out of Facebook you got to play by their rules.
It’s like how Walmart controls its suppliers – you either play Walmart’s way or the highway!
It’s the simple.
Well Facebook is getting like that with business people.
Facebook is saying, “Look you’re in business, there is a cost to doing business. You need to pay us for that”
Now to create a Facebook Fan Page is free!
So the real estate isn’t gonna cost ya anything!
But to get people to come SEE that real estate will.

You Can Interact with your Fans
It’s almost like the Facebook Fan page was designed for this.
It was designed for you to interact, engage, send messages (as your fan page).
It’s like it’s own little sales funnel.
You can invite fans to events, product launches and much more.
Share videos (with call to action), pictures, links and much more!
The point is that you can interact with those who have liked your page in the same way you would family and friends on your profile.
Allowing your fans to leave comments or even add to your timeline is very important in the beginning.
You must monitor this activity of course, but respond to each and every comment.
You Can Get to Know your Fans and Grow
Monitoring only your timeline and what your fans are saying about your business will not help you grow your business.
Monitoring your fans through you analytics is going to be key.
You will have to learn how to read your numbers on your Fan Page in order to really understand who your fans are.
That’s what we mean by “getting to know your fans”.
It’s really understanding the data that Facebook has on your fans.
