8 Questions to get you started with Video Marketing

I’ve asked myself these questions many times.

Well over a year ago my mentor and now business partner in Marketing Moms Trinidad asked me if I did video for my blog.

At the time I had a Blogger Catholic blog that was I dedicated most of my writing time toward.

She asked if I ever thought of putting my blog on video.

I thought what is this woman talking about.

I’ve never had any desire to see myself on camera!

I am one of those that likes to take pictures and video.

Not be in the picture or video.

But as I started thinking about an online marketing career with the goal of leaving my job.

I had to start taking video marketing seriously.

But I too needed these questions answered.

It was through my mastermind group #empteamonfire that I was able to get the answers to these questions.

1. Do I really need videos?

Well the answer to this question should have been obvious.

We’re talking about video marketing right now.

And the reality is you DO need videos.

I hate doing videos!

But I do them.

Videos are the single way people get to hear my voice.

I can’t be everywhere for all my followers and readers.

But I can “replicate” me in a sense by creating videos and just having a conversation.

When I decided to jump online and really start building a business online, I quickly realized that my writing will only get me so far.

Video is one of the fastest and easiest ways to connect with people. I’m sure you’re waiting to watch a video right now rather than continue to read this post.

2. Does my ideal client really want to see videos?

Of course! Your ideal client wants to see video.

Let me give you a simple example. My husband had to go into the bank the other day for a meeting.

You would not believe what the meeting was for?

He had to get training on how to use the online banking system for businesses. (Apparently it’s a special system).

So his first question was – Do you think Bank of America calls all its customers in to do training on a software that they are going to use?

No fool they create a video and send them an email with the link to the video so they can watch!

I would think that in the 21st century ALL BANKS understood the importance of video.

But apparently not all do.

I hope you’re not going to be like that stupid bank and “call” your customers in for simple training when a video would suffice!

3. Is one video enough?

One is NEVER enough!

Even if you’d done a video on the subject already, you can always do a second and a third.

Why because videos like blogs will get lost.

If you’ve been following me for more than a year you’d realize that I have talked about some of the same topics over and over again.

Why because repetition enforces knowledge.

Think about it this way – How many times did you sing the alphabet before you learned it?

4. What type of video should I create?

Now here’s the million dollar question.

What type of video should you create?

Well that’s not a clear cut answer.

What video you create depends on what business you’re in.

Generally speaking however you want to create videos that are education in some form or fashion —

— with a call to action at the end.

5. Can videos really increase my sales?

Well let’s just look at the stats!

Video decreases the time it takes for the viewer to purchase by 70%

and people 72% more likely to purchase a product or service after watching a video.

How many times have you wanted to jump off your couch and rush over to Ruby Tuesday’s after you saw that burger on the TV.

That’s the effect you want people to have with your videos.

6. Aren’t videos expensive?

I answered this in my video.

If you still think it’s expensive then you really just don’t want to do video. 🙂

7. Where do I put my videos?

The best place to put your videos is where people are looking for them.

So in today’s world it’s YouTube and to a lesser extent Vimeo.

It makes no sense putting your videos where people aren’t looking.

But that does not stop you from sharing it through your other social media channels.

8. How do I drive traffic to my videos?

The BILLION dollar question.

SEO plays a HUGE role in your video being seen by anyone.  Here’s the check list I referred to in my video.

But you can also drive tons of traffic to your video in the same way that you drive traffic to your blog or website.

You’d need a few resources in order to do that. Those resources can be found, learned and applied using the strategies taught by EMP in my private mastermind group.

Point #4 is a great point that a lot of people may not even realize. Thanks so much for sharing all this info.

Really great information on video marketing. 🙂 I think a lot of people have a fear of getting in front of a camera (or laptop) and being recorded. 🙂

Do you have any suggestions foe that?

        Hi Kathy.
Thanks for visitng. I’m happy you found the info valuable. Personally I started getting over thw fear of video by covering my image on the screen when I started doing video especially on the laptop. It’s actually easier to do video from your phone or other mobile device. For me it felt like just having a conversation with a friend. But ultimately the best way to get over the fear is to start doing video everyday.
