No really – Facebook does rule!

But that’s not what I meant.

You see Facebook is a beast!

A huge animal that needs to be tamed.

And when you think you got it

Guess what?

Everything changes on you.

Now if you’re reading this blog post in 2020 and Facebook is still around

here’s my disclaimer to you

“Everything is this blog post is OLD”

Now if you’re reading this in the year 2015 or 2016 or even 2017

some of this is going to be very relevant to you.

So listen carefully!

Now it will be remiss of me to not tell you that

alot of this information I am sharing with you was actually shared with me!

Yes it’s called the learning process.

We Invest, we Learn and then we Teach.WhatsWorkingNow

So I’m your teacher for today on Facebook.

But a few months ago Curt Maly was a guest on the What’s Working Now publication Webinar

and he shared all these goodies with those we cared to listen to him and pay attention to what he was saying.

Now why did I just say all that!


Well for starters – I wanted you to know that What’s Working Now is a publication out there

that if you’re doing anything with online marketing you need to get your hands on.

But the second reason is that too many people ask questions

we give them the answers and then they go off and do their own thing anyway!

And that really upsets me!


And it did upset Curt Maly when he back on for a follow up on that webinar.


You see he knows what’s up with Facebook.

He knows what they want on their network and what they don’t want.

He taught us this information ……

….. and then ….

a bunch of really smart people took this information, deemed it “crap”

didn’t follow the directions and then


They got their Facebook Accounts shut down!!!



All I would have done is say, “I told ya so!”

So here’s me telling you so!

In today’s Facebook world there are only two things you need to remember


1. Facebook wants you to share stories and content that readers and fans will engage with and share!

2. Facebook wants ads to improve user experience

Ok I’m hearing you.

You want to know what does that really mean.

Well what it means is pretty simple.

Don’t come on Facebook to just sell your stuff!

You need to learn how to engage

You need to learn how to market

You need to learn how to tell stories.


Now everyone knows how to tell a story,

but for many people the only reason they even went on Facebook was for their business.

They don’t know what it means to be social on Facebook.


So here’s my two cents for you today.

The same thing you do when you go out to coffee with the girls …..

that’s what you need to be doing on Facebook.


They same thing you do when you go to the Superbowl game by your guys …..

is exactly what you need to be doing on Facebook.


Talk to people.

Have conversations with people.

Let them know you’re human.

Take selfies and profiles and videos!


Be human!


I know for someone like me who grew up on Facebook it just comes naturally!

But the actions are still very natural.

So don’t look at Facebook as the big bad monster!

Go out there and let Facebook rule for you!
