Four Books That Made 2014 Great!

On January 1st 2014 I had no idea that I would be

– Leaving my job in October 2014

– Have not one, but two of my very own websites

– Be an active Partner in my father’s firm

– Have published a book on Kindle

– Sold more Mary Kay products than I have since I started that business.

I have to say that it all started with a friend introducing me to a system

A system that introduced me to leaders

To leaders who introduced me to four books that made a difference in how my year of 2014 ended.

This is in no way a review of any of these books,

But I want to share with you the most important thing I learned from each of these books that transformed my year to such a degree

That I know if you follow you too on December 31st next year say you had a great year!

They are:

  1. Rich Dad, Poor Dad : Learn how to work for nothing.

  2. Think and Grow Rich: Know what you are afraid of and conquer your fears

  3. The Secret : Believe in yourself and believe you can achieve your goals

  4. Essentialism : It is actually possible to say, “No” It will probably be the best word you use!

People who have journeyed for a while in their own businesses will look at Rich Dad, Poor Dad and say, well that is obvious!

I’ve actually heard “experienced” businessmen say this. They say Rich  Dad, Poor Dad isn’t a book you read if you’re already making six figures a month!

But for you and I who are at the bottom of the pole trying to just replace your salary, then this book was very inspirational.

Yes a lot of it seems obvious when you look back

But it sets the stage for what your mindset needs to be.

Think and Grow Rich on the other hand is a book that took me a while to go through.

It is a book that gives practical advice for the person now starting, to the person who is still journeying, to the person who has reached and wants to start over!

I absolutely loved reading this book.

I am most grateful for this book helping me identifying my fears.

We don’t realize how our fears can limit our abilities to take action.

The Secret I must say after reading some more for this year of 2014, was more of a feel good book.

But it did teach me one thing – and that is to have some faith and belief in yourself.

Napoleon Hill does say you can Think and Grow Rich, but he also says you must take action.

This is the one piece of The Secret that is missing.

The entire book is about thinking.

As much as you have to be able to envision where and who you want to be in the future —- You need to take ACTION.

That Action needs to be strategic.

Essentialism: The Discipline Pursuit of Less

This book above all else helped me in 2014 truly prioritize!

Unconsciously we always know that we are making trade offs, but sometimes when you embrace the word NO we can actually make progress in the direction we want to go.

2014 was a wonderful year!

I can’t wait to see what 2015 has to bring.

Want to come along for the journey?

I will happy to be an acquaintance that won’t be forgotten”
