Hilary De Freitas is the Name
It occurred to me that this is a relatively new blog.
Yes I’ve been blogging for a while.
Yes I’ve been writing for the last six months.
But this year, or should I say in 2014, Hilary De Freitas got herself her OWN real estate.
I realize that it may seem strange writing a blog post about who I am.
After all that’s why I have the “Who is Hilary” section on the website.
But sometimes those pages aren’t very personal.
It’s more like
I’m Hilary
I was born Hilary Knights.
Married for 3 years to become Hilary De Freitas.
One child (so far)
Three degrees
BS Industrial Engineering,
MS Industrial Engineering
MBA – Economics!
Currently a ………
And that’s usually how those pages go!
I hope mine isn’t like that!!!
Anyway
So if you were to ever go and do a search for Hilary De Freitas you’ll probably find Hilary Knights roaming around the internet.
But that’s ok!
That’s me!
I’m here today writing to you about me because I’m doing a challenge this month!
And it started on January 1st 2015.
No it’s not a weight loss challenge.
I usually do that one in August!
But in October 2014 I left my job.
I had only been working there for just under 4 years.
But I decided when my daughter was born in 2013 I needed to be home.
I had made the decision but did nothing about it.
When I went back out to work from maternity leave I was really depressed.
I’m not talking the depressed where people need to go and see someone.
I was just down!
I was feeling like my life had no real purpose in that office!
I felt like my purpose was at home being taken care of by my husband and mother while I wasted hours of energy on nothing.
My daughter was a real wake up call to me and a reminder of what I wanted to do in life.
She was a reminder that I can do whatever I dream of doing in life!
She was the reminder, the push I needed to say,
I can fill my days with far more meaningful work!
And so I took the plunge and entered the world of online marketing.
I was no stranger to being online.
But I knew not a thing about marketing.
I actually hated the subject of marketing in college!
Network marketing was something that was “tried” and if you fail, “so what”.
Not anymore.
I decided that I will not Try – I will Do, or Not Do (as master yoda says)
Then I realized how much I loved doing marketing and writing about it.
So I started my blog using the tools and the free blog available with Elite Marketing Pro.
Eventually I got to the stage where I wanted to claim my own.
I stopped posting on all the other free sites and decided to bring everything together.
I decided to keep my Faith blog separate as I had always done, but this time it was my own!
Everything business and marketing related came under this blog
Building this type of business from the ground up has given me new purpose in my life.
I feel self-confident and motivated everyday to jump on my computer and jump on the phone.
I am happy that I am available for my daughter.
I am happy that I can support my husband.
I am happy that I can help other people fulfill their life’s vision!
Hilary De Freitas still has a long way to go!
But I love this journey and I look forward to having company this year!

So glad you were able to follow your dream and stay home with your little one. I know when I was working full time I always had a torn heart. Half was to my job I loved, and the other half was longing to be at home with my family. Now that I am home full time, I can’t imagine it any other way. Life is funny, in that following your heart sometimes brings about opportunities you never would have imagined, like blogging. Thanks for sharing!
Great job, Hillary! I appreciate your openness and sharing from your heart and I like the idea of you incorporating your faith and business into one…purpose driven marketing I like to call it! People can see you for who you really are and will be all the more attracted to you when they connect 🙂
Thanks Emily – I like to think of it as unity of life. We all have to remember that we are ONE person. Your Faith, Your Family, Your Business – it’s all you!
Thanks again.
I love to hear when people follow their heart – especially when it is for no other reason than they have to. All the best in your journey.
Thank you so much!
