How to get unstuck in your business? Day 5 FOCUS
Let’s Recap!
So for the past few days I’ve been sharing with you ways that may keep you a little stuck in your business.
I’ve also been giving you some suggestions on how to get out that position.
We’ve seen spending all your time learning, can keep you from progressing along the right and focused path of your business.
We’ve seen how if you only go after everything that’s FREE and you never decide to make an investment in yourself, you might as well pack up shop!
We’ve also seen how it is vitally, vitally important to stay focused on one opportunity! Staying focused is probably the most important element of success in your business.
If you’re out there jumping from opportunity to opportunity I beg you! PLEASE STOP
So today we’re going to look at another similar topic who’s roots are in the fact that maybe you haven’t focused as yet.
And that’s the concept of just being Mediocre.
Your Superhero Is “Mediocre Man!”
Now here is a challenge if we haven’t seen one already.
Are you the type of person who wants to do everything at once?
You’ve probably noticed a trend here that is leading down the road of a five letter word FOCUS!
A wise person once said —
“It’s far better to be an expert at one thing that to be mediocre at many!” ~~~(Unknown)
This is very true.
I struggled with this in my marketing efforts.
Primarily because I’ve been around social media since … well since FaceBook first came on the scene.
I’ve always like the social aspect of the internet from ICQ, MSN, MySpace, High5.
You name it I’ve had it!
I’ve also been blogging for a long time, tried a few things failed, tried again and failed and trying again!!!
So when it came to marketing efforts I thought well I can manage doing these two things at the same time. Why not!?!?!
Well I understood the wisdom in sticking to one thing.
In Trinidad we have this saying
A Jack of all trades and a master of none!
I was trying to be Jack!
And if you’ve ever tried to be Jack then here’s my recommendation to you.
Leave JACK alone – Tell him to Hit the Road!
Stick with what you’re good at
If you’re comfortable with blogging then blog;
if you’re a social media fanatic then Social Media it up;
spend your time and your money learning and developing how to be better at what you’re good at.
Make that good thing great!
In online marketing there are many avenues you can take.
My suggestion to you is simply this. ….
If you’re not good with video but you’re mediocre at blogging; then perfect blogging. (I’ve been using Blogging Ingredients to help me with my blogging if you’re interested)
It will save you a lot of heart ache, time and money in the long run if you just focus and stick with what you’re good at.
Focusing on one marketing strategy ensures that you get good and that you’re getting results from it.
When you have your following and you’re generating that list of prospects then it’s a great idea to start adding to your arsenal.
As I mentioned I’ve struggled with this because I was trying to do too much.
I don’t want you going down the same road I did.
You can lose a lot of momentum starting out too broad.
FOCUS on your one marketing strategy.
It may take you up to 90 days to get it going.
But it will be well worth your 90 days!
You will realize that in marketing creating the content is probably the most time consuming part of your work.
Dissemination of content is easy and “click, click, click”.
So if you’ve been trying to multi-task marketing then I suggest you do like the smart ones and FOCUS on one strategy, perfect it and then build.
