If you’ve been in the network marketing industry for any length of time you know that there are people you want to work with and then there are those that you wish you ran away from.

What I’ve seen is that new network marketers in their attempt to build a team as quickly as they can don’t take into consideration the type of people that they’re bringing onto their team.

I like to look at recruiting as just that, recruiting.

When I went out to look for a virtual assistant I had a specific set of requirements that I was looking for.

When I went out to hire my housekeeper, I had a specific set of requirements that I was looking for in the person I was going to hire.

I also asked for recommendations and I even asked for sample work.

Where sample work wasn’t available they did free work for me.

And guess what ?!?!

I even interviewed them!

The point of the matter is that so many people fail at network marketing because they’re bringing in the WRONG type of person into their team.

The people you should want on your team are the people who will be top earners and leaders five years down the road.

So you’re probably saying to yourself – Hilary, how am I suppose to know who will be a top earner five years from now?

If you do your homework very well you’ll know exactly who you need on your team.

You see all top leaders in network marketing have the following qualities (they may not be making the money now! But they have the potential).

If you can identify in your potential team members these five qualities chances are you have a winner!

So what are these 5 Qualities of a Network Marketing Leader?

First Quality of the Network Marketing Leader: Confidence

Truth enough, not everyone has confidence when they’re starting a new venture, but you can smell a lack of belief and confidence a mile away.

The way someone stands, shakes your hand.

The manner in which they dress. Now it doesn’t have to be stylish, but it can be simple and elegant or well put together.

Now here’s the thing. Someone may not have confidence now but if they possess the fourth quality mentioned below then you can bring the confidence out of them.

But if they’re missing #4 and they don’t have confidence, well you might as well kiss that potential team member good bye.

The Second Quality of the Network Marketing Leader: Capability

Are they capable? And I’m not talking about are they capable of making $5000 a month in product sales.

No! I’m talking about are they capable enough to read a book that you give them and follow instructions.

Are they able to do it for themselves, or do they need someone to do everything for them.

Team members who wait for others to tell them what to do are not the type of team members you’re looking for.

The Third Quality of the Network Marketing Leader: Commitment

You see if you’re going to work at a business like network marketing you’re going to have to put in years of work.

There isn’t a million dollar network marketing earner who hasn’t been at it for more than 10 years!

Yes I said 10 years!

So if the people who want to join your team are talking things like “Make money in 90 days” then they need to find another team.

They will burn out quicker than a BBQ grill!

Here’s the deal, you need people on your team who are committed. You need people who are willing to put in the work; day after day, month after month, year after year.

Because you don’t become a Six-Figure earner in a few months.

The Fourth Quality of the Network Marketing Leader: Coachable

The best leaders in any industry were very often the BEST students!

If you have someone who is willing to put aside everything and I mean EVERYTHING they thought they knew about the business and are willing to learn from YOU, guess what?

You’ve got yourself a leader.

And the last thing shouldn’t surprise you but it is most often something that is misunderstood. It may even be holding you back from becoming the great network marketing leader you are destined to be.

The Fifth Quality of the Network Marketing Leader: Communicator

Being a good communicator works both ways. You’ve got to be able to get your message across to your team and your team members must be able to communicate with you (their leader).

If they’re able to do that properly then they will be able to communicate with their customers.

Often times communication is more about how much you actually LISTEN than what you say.

So once you’ve been able to assess whether a potential team member has all these characteristics then you’re ready to bring them onto your team.
