So in a previous video I talked about how you can earn $10K in a month working 40 hours a month versus 40 hours a week. And one of those ways was affiliate marketing.
Why is affiliate marketing worth your while?
Well let’s put it this way, companies spend a lot of money on research and development, product development and their own marketing and advertising and YET they still don’t reach their highest potential of sales simply because people don’t trust companies.
If you were to go out and look for a product for say your skin care or something for your children you’ll go looking for what OTHER PEOPLE are saying. You inherently trust another human being who has used the product or service than the company who is advertising.
Enter the affiliate!
This is where you come in! You a regular person giving recommendations for products and services and guess what companies will pay you for the recommendations that you make.
How does Affiliate Marketing work?
So the easiest way to explain how affiliate marketing works is to think of Amazon.
Millions of people shop on Amazon every day.
First you will need to become an Amazon Associate. That way any amazon page you go to you’ll be able to grab a special link (for tracking) that will basically tell Amazon you recommended this product.
Now full disclaimer there are some products that you cannot use an associate link for. You’ll get a little notice about those products as you browse.
Second you write a blog post or do a video or create a social post about a product that you’ve used and love or recommend.
Third you place the tracking link in the blog post, video description or social post that you’ve shared.
Fourth – Amazon (or the affiliate company) verifies the sale.
Fifth you get paid a commission!
It’s that simple. You’re simply sharing your opinion on products that are already out there to purchase.
Now let’s just think about how easy it really is. You didn’t have to create the product, you didn’t have to store the product, you didn’t have to setup the ecommerce site, you didn’t have build the relationship with merchants etc.
All you had to do was create a piece of content about a product and share your opinion.
How do you get paid?
So the obvious next question is how do you get paid once all these recommendations start going out.
Well many companies will pay you directly to your bank account depending on how they have their program setup.
My web hosting company gives me quite a few options for getting paid when I choose to recommend them.
If you are using affiliate network programs (which I’ll go into more detail in another post) like Share-A-Sale, Commission Junction or Rakuten they do the verification of sale and track all your metrics; including clicks, leads and sales.
Some companies pay for leads, others pay for sales and some pay for both! Basically all these companies are looking for new business and you’re going to help them get it.
Affiliate marketing is just another line item on their Income Statement that works out a lot cheaper than a full blown marketing campaign that will never reach as many people.
Success Doesn’t Happen overnight
Affiliate marketing is a powerful tool to start growing your online business.
You can specialize in affiliate marketing or it can be a separate revenue stream in your business.
We’ve seen great YouTube examples of children playing with toys and earning money to buy their parents a home!
So is there money in affiliate marketing? Yes!
Does it take time? Of course.
