I’m asked this question a lot.

Yes, social media managers do have personal biases towards certain social media platforms.

However, this doesn’t mean that we force these biases onto our clients.

My conversations with new clients often involve them asking what I think is the best platform for their business. The answer ultimately depends on their target audience and the nature of their business.

Pinterest is my favourite social media platform and I will suggest it if it will work well with my client’s social media goals. There are instances, however, when I don’t recommend Pinterest at all because it doesn’t fit into the client’s social media strategy.

Give this fact, I’m still going to tell you three reasons I think Pinterest is awesome!

Pinterest Answers Questions

I call Pinterest the “social Google”. Type basically anything into Google’s search engine and one of the first page results is bound to be something on Pinterest. The platform is often my go-to for answers related to topics that interest me. Want a new hairstyle? Check Pinterest. Want home décor ideas? Check Pinterest. Want some homeschooling tips? You guessed it…check Pinterest.

Pinterest is an Open Network

I discussed closed and open social media networks in this blog post. Closed networks, such as Facebook and LinkedIn, provide answers to questions through groups. Some of these groups are open, others are closed and there’s no guarantee that you’ll find the answers you need there. These groups also tend to be impersonal and discourage meaningful engagement.

The opposite is true with Pinterest. It’s an easily searchable platform that provides information about anything you need. You don’t have to request access to a group or hope that one of your friend’s posts something related to the answer you need. Content is open.

Pinterest Users Are More Likely to Become Paying Customers

More than 250 million people use Pinterest monthly. There are also 1.5 million businesses on Pinterest (probably because 90 percent of weekly Pinterest users visit Pinterest to make a purchasing decision). Need I say more? I honestly believe that Pinterest is the social media platform for business owners who are serious about selling. It’s great for:

  • Directing people to blog posts
  • Offering purchasing suggestions for products
  • Answering pressing questions that bring brand exposure

Final Words

I love Pinterest. It has made it easier for potential clients to find my business and it provides the answers to many of my pressing questions. However, this doesn’t mean that Pinterest is the right social media platform for all my clients. Schedule a consultation with me so that I can help you determine the right social media platforms for your business.
